Have a beautiful handmade rug as large as a table placemat to be framed. Problem: it will hang vertically and has fringe on both ends. Obviously there is no problem on the bottom BUT what do I do with the top fringe? Do I comb it down-ward? I can think of no way to make it stay upright except to place a mat over the top edge. If so, I would have to put matting over all edges and that would definitely detract from the beauty. I had hoped to sink mount it. Thank you very much.

In a seminar last Spring, I heard Vivian Kistler address this specific topic. She said not to ignore gravity, and pretend that magic is holding up your fringe. Let the top fringe fall over onto the top of the rug. That's where gravity puts it. Let it lay there. Problem solved.
