I too have a painting by Duncan Carlton with a small metal plate wiith his name on it The framing and subject matter is very similar to a panting illustrated in Ask/Art from an auction house record. I would be very much interested in any information that anone has ferreted out.

I also Purchased a landscape painting by Duncan Carlton. Very well done and from my guess seems to be circa 1890. It was bought in Baltimore. i have access to artfact and artprice and i can''t find any info on him.
If anyone has any please let me know. This has a metal plaque with his name, seems to be from a gallery exhibition.
Thank you

I recently bought a wonderful picture by Carlton sounding very much like the last post and one that was at Christie's in 1986...I've found him listed in Davenport's but at this point that's all.

I have one also and have been trying unsuccessfully to find info on artist. The gallery offered little explanation, but I bought it any way. A summer river landsacpe scene in predominantly blue and gold tones. Very well done and I would guess first half of 20th century. This picture was purchased about 13 years ago from Studio Antiques in Alexandria (and they generally know a fair amount about artists thye sell--except for Duncan Carlton)
