Clear film encapsulation works in three ways to hold the docuument away from the tape:
1. Where the two sheets are joined by very thin polyester tape, such as 3M #889, a "pinching action" is created that tends to hold the document away.
2. Placing the sheets of clear film with their convex sides together creates a very slight pressure in the center of the mount.
3. The static charge of the plastic sheets tends to hold the document in place.
I would not recommend placing any sort of corner supports inside a clear film encapsulation, since that would violate the contact-bond of the sheets with the document. |

Yes, use polyester film, (Mylar,) and an archival quality double sided tape. 3M tapes work well. A 1/4 inch tape should be fine. Allow around 1/4 inch space around the print and the tape. With larger works you might want to use mylar corners to hold the print in place so that it does not creep into contact with the tape. |

More information would be helpful, but clear polyester film encapsulation probably would work. |
