In PPFA Guidelines for Framing Paintings on Canvas it is recommended to use metalized paper tape ( I am assuming they mean the gray Lineco Frame Sealing Tape with aluminum barrier) or Marvel Seal. In the article "Stretching Canvas Art in the October 2012 issue of PFM it is recommended to use Lineco I-Film Frame Sealing Tape (with a reactive copper....) which according to PPFA guidelines does no provide a gas-impermeable barrier where the other lineco "grey" paper lined metal tape does. Any Idea on why the PFM article recommends the one over the other even though it is not gas-impermeable. Which is best?

To my knowledge, both of those rabbet-sealing tapes would be suitable for sealing the rabbet of a wood moulding in preservation framing.

The paper/foil tape is more easily torn or punctured, adn requires more care to properly install. The I-Film corrosion-intercept tape is more flexible and more durable.
