A customer brought an old Lionel Railroad map of the US and wants it framed. It has been folded for many years and has some tears in it. It is also oversized (37 x 52). Any suggestions on how or if this should be mounted. If so what materials should be used? |

You should contact a paper conservator to flatten the map and repair tears. And the map should be mount on 4 or 8 ply rag board and framed in a deep frame with a spacer to separate the map from UV filtering acrylic. You could use a spacer that sits under the rebate or use a gold or silver slip as the spacer which would add a decorative element. |
