Larson-Juhl has been awarded chain-of-custody environmental certifications for moulding and matboard products from two worldwide organizations, Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The Biltmore™ Frame Collection by Larson-Juhl® is PEFC certified and The Artique Biltmore™ Collection of Solid Color Core matboards is FSC certified.
“Part of Larson-Juhl's mission statement has always been to improve the world we live in, and I'm proud to say Larson-Juhl has a long history of being environmentally responsible,” says Larson-Juhl President and CEO, Steve McKenzie. “We now, however, realize that being green is only part of the story. In addition to the environment, when we think of our world's resources, people and financial resources are also extremely important.”
Third party independent auditors oversee harvesting through manufacturing, distribution, and sales to ensure that a product is certified as claimed and validate a chain-of-custody certification. Products that achieve certification can feature the logo and unique certification number designated to the company to prove validation.
Larson-Juhl selected the PEFC and FSC certification organizations since they best complement the company's product offering, market demands, and factory locations while ensuring the wood used is from well-managed forests.
Both Larson-Juhl's Lira and Archobalegno manufacturing facilities have received PEFC certification. In addition, all Larson-Juhl U.S. distribution centers are now FSC certified.
